Brendon McCaulley is a fintech operator and MBA with a background spanning software development, product leadership, and financial services. Options Roamer is his attempt to answer a question he kept running into: why is systematic, AI-driven options trading only available to institutional desks?
Built over years of iteration — and now running live — the platform reflects his conviction that AI-native investment tooling should be rigorous, transparent, and under the control of the person whose capital is at stake.
Background
Before building Options Roamer, Brendon spent his career at the intersection of technology and finance. His MBA gave him the analytical foundation; his years in fintech product and operations gave him the operational instincts. He knows what it looks like when systems fail under real-world conditions — and has designed accordingly.
He is not a quant researcher or a hedge fund manager. He is an operator who understands how AI systems behave in production and how to build the feedback loops that keep them honest. That perspective shapes every architectural decision in Options Roamer — from the regime model gating logic to the quality checks that run before every trading session.
He also runs Trailhead Security, an AI-augmented cybersecurity venture. The two companies share a common operating philosophy: use AI to do the systematic work, keep humans in the loop for judgment, and never let automation outrun your ability to understand what it's doing.
Investment Philosophy
Options Roamer is built around a specific thesis: that options premium selling, applied systematically with rigorous regime and risk controls, produces better risk-adjusted returns than most retail approaches — provided you have the discipline to stay out when conditions don't support the strategy.
That last clause is the hard part. The ML regime model exists precisely because human judgment tends to erode at exactly the wrong moments. Removing discretion from entry decisions is not a limitation of the system — it is the point of it.
No new positions in hostile market conditions. The regime model is the first gate, not the last resort.
Rules are defined in code, not in real time. The pipeline executes the strategy as designed — not as emotion dictates.
Hard stops and position sizing limits are non-negotiable. No single trade should be large enough to be catastrophic.
Every execution event, regime change, and risk breach is logged and alerted. If the system is doing something, you know about it.
